If you are after a small wedding in front of a select group of close friends and family, you need an intimate wedding venue. There are more of these locations around than you think and when you start doing your research you will be amazed at the choices open to you. By their very nature bed and breakfasts are often small so they can offer a more personal wedding, say for 10-15 guests. They are typically located in small villages so the ceremony itself can be held in the local church and then the wedding party can walk back to the bed and breakfast for a wedding breakfast prepared by the owner. If you 
were hoping to have a few more guests then larger bed and breakfasts or inns can be found, some have restaurants to use for the wedding reception and others have large grounds where you could also hold the ceremony. You could erect a tent or marquee in this case and possibly increase your guest list to up to 100 guests depending on the facilities at the inn. Remember though that being in a small village may mean that late night noise is not permitted.
The cost of hiring a bed and breakfast for your wedding will vary immensely from place to place. Sometimes there will be a flat rate for hiring these small wedding venues and you will pay per person costs for food and accommodation. Sometimes you will have to rent out all of the rooms for the night even if you are not filling them all. For smaller guest lists it can be nice to offer accommodation for all so you can extend the festivities to the following morning over breakfast. Items like the wedding cake and flowers will be extra more often than not.
Finding a bed and breakfast is easy these days with many directories online waiting for your search. Ring around a few possibilities to determine which ones will accommodate the number of guests you plan on inviting as well as ball park costs so you can come up with a short list of those to visit. It is recommended that you visit the location and sample their cuisine before booking so that you know exactly what to expect. Ask if they have held weddings before and if possible try and contact couples who married there previously for their reviews.
So if it is a small personalised wedding that you are after, consider a bed and breakfast for your wedding venue. You will be able to customise virtually everything to put your stamp on the day of your dreams.
