Benzoyl Peroxide For People With Severe Acne
Benzoyl peroxide acne treatment is a common recommendation from dermatologists for people with moderate to severe acne. Though the actual chemical can be found in lower concentrations in over the counter topical treatments such as Neutregena or ProActive in stores like Walgreens.
Unlike anti-biotic acne treatments, benzoyl peroxide is typically administered topically to the effected area. In high concentration this can cause facial hair to be bleached, and depending on the patients skin type skin can sometimes dry out and peal.
As with any acne treatment you consult your dermatologist before starting, and along the way to make sure your treatment goes smoothly. Often times a dermatologist will recommend using multiple products for best results. A typical combination would be benzoyl peroxide and a toner like glycolic acid.
