External Lighting Options
There are quite some options to illuminate your home exterior and sometimes it is hard to choose which is the best option to go for. For some people solar lighting is the most popular option because they want to take care for the environment and save electricity. For others solar lighting is not practical enough and that is why they still prefer string lights. Which type of lighting you prefer will indeed be a matter of what it is you are going to use it for. Although solar lighting tends to be the future, it still has some disadvantages that we can not overlook.
Let us first state why we should look for an alternative external lighting option! Out environment is in direct thread because of all the pollution and the use of electricity is one of the causes of this pollution. Another issue is the fact that more and more people are coming to this planet and in the near future our energy sources are not sufficient for a larger population. Solar lighting looks like a great alternative because you will not need any kind of electricity to make it work. The solar connectors will be charged by the sun and that makes it able to let the bulb shine over night. This sounds great, but the quality of the light is not the same as when you use string lights.
How great solar lighting may sound, it still is quite inefficient. You will need large collectors to catch the sun in order to produce the same amount of lighting string lights produce. But because we are not able to place large solar collectors in our garden we have to use smaller ones which will produce less light.
This does not mean that solar lighting can not be used for anything practical, you just have to keep in mind that the emitted light is not as bright as string lighting. The best way to use it is for aesthetic reasons like illuminating your garden landscape or your driveway. If you are planning to use spotlights or walkway lights with motion detectors than you still have to use string lights. Maybe this will change in the near future.
