Fiberglass Pool Benefits
Fiberglass pools have withstood the test of time – and with good reason. There are many benefits to owning a fiberglass pool that other pool types; gunite, cement, vinyl etc – just can’t match. Below are some of the benefits of owning a fiberglass pool. Quick note: Above ground fiberglass poolsare not a viable option. The pool needs the balance of pressure from the ground and the water to keep from cracking.
Maintenance- Fiberglass pools require generally less maintenance than other types. However, the amount and type of maintenance required will depend on the area you live in and the climate. Therefore, this is something you may want to discuss with your pool contractor. In general, fiberglass pool crack less frequently, and when they require refinishing it is a job that an ambitious DIY person could accomplish, saving money.
Chemicals-Fiberglass generally interacts less with the water requiring fewer chemicals and making vacuuming much easier.
Installation – Installation for these type of pools is generally quicker than for traditional concrete or other types of pools. This is due to the fact that they are preformed shells that are made elsewhere and then installed into a pre-excavated site. Because of the pre-made aspect you will have work men in your back yard for much less time than when they are installing a traditional or gunite pool.
Special Features – Any feature that you desire in a regular pool can be accomplished in a fiberglass pool as well. Features, such as waterfalls, hot tubs, stairs etc that is. Because the fiberglass pools are pre-made off site they aren’t completely customizable as other pools – shape etc is more limited. They do come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, but you would not be able to draw up your own plans for them.
In conclusion, fiberglass pools are an excellent option for pretty much anyone who is looking to save time and money.
