How to fit ladies boots

It is now the season to start wearing  ladies boots.  Whether it’s the thigh high or over the calf boots, it’s imperative that they fit right to get the look that you’re going for.

There are a few measurements that you need to be aware of when fitting your boots.  Obviously, the first is your shoe size.  Knowing your size is key in finding the perfect pair of shoes.  The best way to determine  your foot size is to go to a shoe store where one of their sales associates will measure you.  Since the sales associate is trained in determining the correct size of your foot, it should be quick and easy.  Just because your foot is size 6 doesn’t mean that the shoe you are going to buy is going to be a 6.  There is variation in shoe sizes depending on the style or brand.  Before you buy your boots, be sure to consider whether you are going to wear socks or panty hose with them.  Panty hose give your feet some room while socks will help fill out the boot, helping your feet to feel more snug.

The length and width of your calf are the last measurements that you need to know in order to find the perfect boots.  Your calf length is the distance between the bottom of your foot to just under your knee.  To get this measurement, it’s best to use a flexible tape measure.  This measurement is the shaft height of the boot.  Your calf width is the circumference of the widest part of your calf.  Use a flexible tape measure for that too.  Use these two measurements to determine the fit of the boot shaft.  If you are concerned that your calf may be too wide or skinny, many women’s boots have elastic on the shaft of the boot to help fit of  shape of your leg.  The location of the  elastic panel will vary on the type of boot.  Some are on the top while other boots have elastic that run down the back part of the shaft.  Some brands of boots have shafts that are made entirely of a stretchy material to help give you a form fitting look.  This allows you to be a bit more flexible when choosing your boot.

Be sure to have these measurements when you go online to look for shoes.  These three measurements (the shoe size, the shaft height and the calf width)  are correct, it will guarantee a great fit.  Some online shoe stores include all three measurements for the boot.  When you find the perfect boot, be sure to check other sites online to find a great deal.
