How Low is Too Low?
I honestly believe a 1200 calorie diet is too low to meet the body’s requirement for fuel. There are many diet plans out there; however, and one that would fit with this type of low calorie diet plan is one where you fluctuate the amount of calories throughout the week. For instance, if you need about 2000 calories a day to maintain your current weight then a try a low calorie diet using this method:
Have two very low calorie days throughout the week (1200 calories), have two mid-caloried days (1500), have two higher calorie days (1800) and one “free” day. Your free day isn’t a binging day so you shouldn’t consume massive amounts of calories, but maybe 2200 or so would be okay. Also, you should vary your days throughout the week: one day should be low, the next high, and the next one low again, etc.
This kind of diet in effect keeps your body on its toes while still sticking to a low calorie diet plan.
