The Federal Pell grant is based off financial need. You are deemed eligible by the US Department of Education.
In order to apply for a Federal Pell grant you need to fill out an application, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). It is important that you submit your FAFSA as close to January 1st as possible.
Your college will give you credit when you are approved. The government guarantees the school that they will get their money.
