Interval Training is Important to Fast Weight Loss
Many people think that they can run, and run and run to lose weight. Or maybe they spend a lot of time on the stair-stepper or elliptical machines at their gym, hoping for fast weight loss. While this will help in the short term for you to lose pounds, often times you will actually lose lean muscle while working out and doing too much cardio, without including resistance training, or interval training.
Interval training is working out hard for a set period of time, and taking short breaks between those periods of times. One example of this would be with running. Instead of running at a set pace and determining success by how far you were able to run, you can sprint in intervals. A good way to go about this is to sprint for two minutes straight, and then rest for 30 seconds to 1 minute, and repeat the process. This will make it so that your body doesn’t get comfortable doing the same motion at the same pace, over and over. By sprinting, you are making your body work hard, and therefore it will be burning calories quicker, and safely.
