LED TV- Understanding Its Technology
If you intend to purchase an LED TV, you need to understand and know everything about LED television. The television media and television manufacturers are good at convincing people. They try to convince the consumers that the latest products they have are using the cutting edge technology and are a must have gadget. Most consumers do not understand the ethical terms they have, they just purchase the product because they are convinced and they think that it is the product that best fit their taste.
The new ranges of LED TV that are available now in the market have made a big impact to the consumers. The manufacturers of television are boasting about LED technology. What’s with LED technology that everyone is making a big deal out of it?
The term LED refers to Light Emitting Diode. LED devices are being used in many of our devices at present. However, in the line of LED television, the actual LEDs are used for the backlights of the television only; they are not used on the TV display. Current televisions technology are using cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL), that simply means using LED backlight is the most reliable form of backlight. The television is made of liquid crystal display or LCD screens and made up only of LED backlights. In short LED TV is using two technologies and these are LCD for the screen and LED for the backlights. It is like having an advanced LCD television or what they call LED LCD TV.
LCD televisions that have LED backlights have improvements when it comes to picture quality, slimmer models and environmental friendliness. The picture quality has been improved over standard full HD LCD TV and plasma TV, because the ranges of colors have increased. LED backlights provide a higher contrast ratio because LCD produces blacker images and whiter images. LED technology consumes less power than the old backlight technology. LED TV can also be made ultra thin, sleek and more attractive to the consumer.
