Outlawing Fake Lawns
One thing you will have to be aware of before installing a fake lawn in your front or backyard is that they are not exactly legal in all parts of the country. Indeed, there are quite a number of cities that have passed local ordinances outlawing synthetic grass from the yards of the houses within its boundaries.
It’s a battle of attitudes as there is a strong pull for water restrictions and calls for residents to save water, yet one of those ways, synthetic grass, is frowned upon as unnatural by many. The problems of drainage is becoming less of an issue with technological advancements and the savings in watering, mowing, fertilizers and pesticides surely make a strong argument for overturning some of those rulings.
I would expect that many local governments will realize that their original rulings have been overtaken by better technology and a change in perception about what is considered appropriate for a lawn.
