Pahrump NV
Pahrump NV is a small town that is located 60 miles west of Las Vegas on Highway 160. Pahrump’s original claim to fame was the fact that Art Bell called it home.
Art Bell, just in case you don’t know, is a world famous radio personality. He also was the first person to actually see a UFO on the outskirts of Pahrump.
Pahrump is a wonderful town to take a short visit to when staying in Las Vegas. Not only does it have some really great casinos, but it also has legal brothels. That’s right!! Won’t that add a little spice to your vacation.
Back in the 1950′s and early 1960′s you could see the beautiful mushroom clouds that formed after the above ground nuclear tests were performed just outside of Pahrump NV. It was quite a sight to see back then and has made Pahrump a glowing vacation destination ever since.
Once Las Vegas took off as “America’s” favorite destination, Pahrump became a real estate speculator’s dream. Land and home values went through the roof. Many people made money but now that the emperor has been caught naked just as many people have lost money.
Pahrump is about 26 miles long and 12 miles wide. It has very hot weather in the summer. On an average summer day you can expect the temps to go over 100F. During the winter is much more pleasent and the average temps are in the 70′s.
So inviting is the winter weather that many people come to Pahrump NV in their RV’s and stay for the entire season. The population swells from its normal 30,000 people (not including aliens) to over 35,000.
So if you find yourself out in Las Vegas with some free time you should head over the hill to Pahrump NV and experience small town hospitality.
