Small Business Phone Systems
When thinking of a phone system for your small business you normally think dial tone, if you pick up the phone and here it everything is good. However, there are many other things to consider. Do you want to go with a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) or traditional PBX? VoIP can offer you easy installation, often to the point of doing it yourself. The reduced cost of VoIP also makes it very attractive when looking at the services provided.
There are several types of VoIP systems available for residential applications right now. One such system is the Magic Jack. It works by having you simply plug a special adaptor into your USB port and off you go. It has some limitations with features and functions, so it is definitely not something to consider for your business. It might work for a home office, however.
Ooma is another newer comer to the market. It also is for residential use, but is more feature rich than the Magic Jack. The Ooma system has it’s own special modem that can be plugged into your internet connection. With this one, you can plug your existing phone in and use the service. Unlike some other models that require a special phone or phone adaptor, you can use this one with any phone you might like to buy at your local electronics store.

Consider phone services when you look to purchase your phone system, often companies bundle services and you may find that it adds expenses without the functionality you require. Finally, review the Service Level Agreement (SLA) from the phone provider to make sure it doesn’t have unrealistic clauses.
Something else to consider is a Hosted PBX, it provides you with added flexibility and services for your clients. The key thing to consider is your customer satisfaction and connectivity. You don’t want to short change your ultimate business plan by trying to save a little bit on your telephone system.
