I say ‘for your situation’ because everyone’s particulars that they divulge when getting a car insurance quote, be it driving experience, car model, previous claims records – even whether you’re married, single or divorced – all contribute to deciding what your quoted premium will be. You might think it strange that your marital status affects your car insurance premium, but there must be statistically significant data from claims records that indicates it is relevant. (Perhaps married people drive more carefully or are less ‘rushed’ when on the road because of a subconscious ‘sense of responsibility’ – and by extension they are involved in fewer motor accidents?)

The bottom line is: everything insurers ask when you apply for a quote is weighed and measured. But different companies place different importance on different things, meaning they will quote you different premiums. So it is best to shop around – yes, fill out more forms – to compare car insurance quotes from different companies to find the cheapest.

If you think about the small investment of time and research you do now as an investment in your future, it will be easier to manage the tasks.  It can be hard to shop for things like this.  It certainly isn’t as much fun as shopping for a car or vacation destinations.  But, if you put in the hard work now to find the cheapest insurance for your car that gives you the features and coverage you want, then you can spend all of those savings on that dream vacation after all.  Plus, you’ll also be able to sleep better at night knowing that you saved you and your family some money.
