2. Is an online business comfortably within your budget? It costs money to run any type of business. If you’re under the impression that an online business is cheaper to run than a traditional brick-and-mortar store you may be in for a bit of a surprise. Marketing is expensive, no matter where you’re advertising. And starting up your business may require you to spend an amount of money you might have to save up for. Plus, there’s possible monthly fees to consider. Can you afford all of this without going out of your way or borrowing money? This is something to seriously think about.

3. Do you have the time to invest into getting your business off the ground? Despite the claims, online businesses don’t just spring up from the ground. After you pay the initial fee and get your website or product together, now you have to let people know what you have so that they can come to your site. Setting up ads, making your site appealing to consumers or visitors and singling yourself out among your competition are not things you’ll learn overnight. While you might feel that 10 minutes a day working on your business will suffice, you should also be prepared to have minimal results. Does that bother you? Rearranging your schedule might help, but if it’s proving difficult or absolutely impossible, perhaps you need to hold off on it for the time being.

Adwords is a program that allows you to pay Google to do your advertising for you.  Google will post ads to your website on relevant search results or other relevant pages.  You pay Google every time one of those ads is clicked on.

Adsense is the other side of the spectrum; Google pays you to allow these ads onto your website.  This means you can run ads that are relevant to your webpage, and every time one of your viewers clicks on an ad, you get paid a portion of Google’s profit from the ad.  It may not buy you a brand new car, but it could put a little extra money in your pocket.
