For instance, there are literally hundreds of businesses online that are willing to buy your scrap gold. Whether it’s a broken chain, single earring, coin or old spoon, as long as it’s made from the valuable metal, it can be sold.

In addition, the more items you have that are made from 24 karat (solid gold), the more money you can receive. For example, that 18 karat bracelet you bought in the 80’s but never wear anymore could be worth more than $1,000, depending on the weight of it.

However, before selling gold jewelry, you should always remove any gemstones or other materials that could be valuable to you through other businesses. Otherwise, the dealer will just remove it and sell it for profit. They’re only looking for you to sell gold, so anything else you give them is a loss of profit to you.

Also, don’t sell anything that is a family heirloom. Many people make the mistake of selling family valuables at a whim because they need money or they decide to sell an heirloom that they may not have wanted, but was meant to be kept in the family, only to regret their decision later.

Businesses who buy scrap metals don’t keep the items they buy in whole to resale later. Instead, they take those items to a refiner who then melts them down and reinvests the melted metals to potential buyers. So please keep that in mind when you’re selling scrap gold or you may end up regretting that hasty decision.
