Wedding bands are most commonly made from 14 karat or 18 karat gold or platinum. You may have even seen a titanium wedding band. But if you are opting for gold, there are certain aspects that you must be aware of before you decide to select whether you want 18 karat or 14 karat gold for your wedding band. 14 karat gold is much harder as compared to 18 karat gold and this matters in terms of what you can expect in the long term durability of your wedding band. In it’s most pure form, gold is extremely soft and w0uld not suitable for jewelry making. If you are making your wedding band out of gold, it must be mixed with other metals such as silver and copper to harden it and make it more suitable to use in the jewelry making process
