Antique Wooden Jewelry Boxes
I walked into an antique shop on Melrose Ave. and was immediately taken by the variety of wooden jewelry boxes in this tiny store. Some looked as though they’d been brought back from the 1700′s, some appeared relatively modern. There was one identical to my grandmother’s, complete with the dancing ballerina and all. Some were studded with mirrors inside. Others were flat and broad, opening like a treasure chest. Most were decorated with tiny locks, including antique keys. Until now I’d stored my jewelry in small cardboard boxes. Now, I was enchanted. Who could I convince to buy me such a gift? When was the next celebration? I was determined to find them: the perfect jewelry box, and the person from whom it would come.
