Writing a Book
Many people dream of writing a book. For some reason, there’s a very romantic image of authors in our culture. The common image might be that of a man sitting in a mansion, dressed in a robe, possibly with a cigar or cigarette in his mouth and a glass of liquor nearby. The life of an author is generally seen as one of a life of leisure.
The truth, however, is drastically different. Most authors can only dream of living in a mansion. And most have to work at other jobs to support themselves. The vast majority of books never make money. And most authors will never receive the monies or notice that they desire. For many people that write for a living, the writing turns out to be more of a hobby than an actual profession.
